About Zoë Welsh

Qualifications & Experience

I hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapeutic Counselling from the Metanoia Institute where I am in advanced training working towards the completion of an MSc and Certified Transactional Analyst (CTA) qualification.

I have experience working with a wide range of emotional and relational issues in the NHS and charitable settings. Including but not limited to generalised anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship breakdown, stress, trauma (including developmental trauma, PTSD, Complex PTSD and racialised trauma), abuse, bereavement, loss, chronic illness, and disability.

I am particularly interested in questions of identity and how we come to experience sameness and difference; our own and each other’s. How does our sense of who we are impact our relationships; those we have with others and the relationship we have with ourselves? How in relationship with each other, can we navigate towards being able to be differently different together?

"Not everything that is faced can be changed. But nothing can be changed until it is faced."

James Baldwin

My Approach

I am influenced by my training in Transactional Analysis (TA) and by my personal and professional lived experience. My fascination with what connects us and what keeps us apart is due, in part, to my experience of growing up different and a professional lifetime of listening to and retelling other people’s stories through the medium of television. What links these experiences to how I practice is a belief that when we understand the wholeness of human experience, when we feel whole and complete, we can heal, grow and transform

TA as a model of psychotherapy integrates ideas from psychoanalysis, behaviourism, and humanism which allows me to tailor my approach to meet the unique needs and experience of each client. My aim is to work with you, to listen to you fully with empathy, compassion and understanding. To collaborate with you to build a relationship of mutual trust and respect. To support you and encourage you as your awareness grows and you find new, healthier ways to live your life fully, freely and with more meaningful connections.
